Statement of ANTIK on the situation
Upon an instigation of one of the citizens, The Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic has issued for the company ANTIK Telecom Ltd. the following statement:Pursuant to Section 10, Paragraph 7 of the Act No. 428/2002 Coll., the premises accessible to the public may be monitored by means of a video recording or audio recording only for the purposes of the public policy and security, disclosing criminal activities or interference with the State’s security, provided that the premises are clearly marked as being monitored. Marking of the fact that the premises are being monitored is not required if it is not stipulated by a special Act. The recording may only be used for the purposes of criminal prosecution or proceedings concerning misdemeanors, unless otherwise stipulated by a special Act.
We are extremely sorry that we are now forced to suspend http://live.antik.sk portal, which has brought to you the most interesting events of our city on a daily basis.
According to the statements we have received, it is only a matter of time before other companies also have to cease their broadcasting cameras should The Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic receive another instigation to investigate from the citizens.
